Charlize Theron battled searing neck pain, and won
A Bad Fall and the Pain in the Neck
Charlize Theron starred as the mysterious assassin in the 2005 flick Aeon Flux, which meant a lot of action scenes and a lot of stunts. During one of those scenes, Theron fell on her neck in what she has called a “freak accident.”
She spoke with News.com.au about the seriousness of the injury.
“I was a centimeter away from being completely paralyzed for the rest of my life,” Theron explained.
Theron suffered a herniated disc in that fall. She told News.com.au she spent 8 years seeing pain management doctors before opting for a neck fusion.
Performing Perfectly
In 2017, the Daily Mail reported Charlize Theron was back to doing 95 percent of her own stunts and her body is as good as new. Theron spoke about her 2005 injury while promoting the 2017 movie “Atomic Blondes.”
Theron told News.com.au she will continue to take on physical roles, but with a little caution.
‘It definitely woke me up to, OK, you have to be prepared… Now my body’s functioning perfectly again, and I obviously didn’t want to mess that up,’ she said.
