Make Christmas Shopping As Painless As Possible
The Christmas time crowds aren’t the only thing to avoid in the malls this holiday season. Obviously there is the threat for COVID-19 when you go shopping, but going from shop to shop could put quite a strain on your back.
Walking up and down the aisles carrying bags from other stores can strain your back.
If you are already suffering with back pain, it could get worse.
It’s a big reason we advise you to consider shopping online for the holidays. The shipping fees may be worth the extra strain on your body.

If you would still rather shop in the brick and mortar stores here are some tips:
-
Wear comfortable shoes with arch support
This will help support your back and help with your posture. Trade the boots for some tennis shoes, and it could mean a world of difference in the coming weeks. -
Take frequent breaks
Stop for a coffee or a pretzel. Do not wait until your legs or back start to hurt. If you take it easy from the start, you may not experience as much pain at the end of your trip. -
Find a shopping cart to hold your bags while in the store
If you are shopping at bigger name stores like target, or Walmart: take a buggy, or find something to help carry all your finds without having to hold awkward bags on your arms while shopping. -
Take trips to your car to load up your finds in the trunk so you don’t have to carry them around.
Especially if you are at an indoor mall like Lakeside Shopping Center, you probably won’t have access to a shopping cart, but that doesn’t mean you must carry everything you buy around with you. After hitting a couple stores, take a walk back to the car to load it into the car. It may take a few extra minutes, but if it saves your back, it’s worth it. Right?
